Privacy Policy
What we collect, and what we don’t do with it.
American Marksman Company Inc., doing business as American Precision Rifleworks (“APR,” “we,” “us”), is a Florida-based custom rifle builder, gunsmith, and retailer in Volusia County, Florida. This policy explains what personal information we collect through americanprecisionrifleworks.com and our online store, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what we need to answer you, build your rifle, and fulfill your order, and we do not sell your information to anyone.
The American Marksman Ballistics app has its own, separate policy at/app/privacy/. Where you buy through our WooCommerce checkout, the checkout pages are hosted on our WordPress store; this policy covers them too.
Information you give us
- Inquiries. When you use the Start a Build, Contact, or Gunsmithing forms we collect your name, email address, phone number (optional), state, and what you tell us about the rifle or the request. Build inquiries also capture the choices you make in the build configurator.
- Email lists. If you join a list (the Shop launch list, the American Marksman list, the Training list, or the Ballistics app field-test list) we store your email address, the list you joined, the date, and the network address the request came from. Each list only gets the emails it was created for.
- Orders. When you buy something we collect your name, billing and shipping addresses, email, phone, the items ordered, and order history. Payment card details go directly to our payment processor; we never see or store full card numbers.
- Firearm transfers. For a rifle purchase we collect the name and license details of the Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) you choose to receive it, and we share your name and order details with that dealer to complete the transfer. The receiving dealer conducts the background check and the federal Form 4473; we do not receive your Form 4473.
- Correspondence. Emails, calls, and messages you send us, and our replies.
Information collected automatically
- Server and network logs. Our site is delivered by Cloudflare and our store is hosted by WP Engine. Their systems log standard request data: IP address, browser and device type, pages requested, referring page, and timestamps, used for security, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting.
- Anti-bot checks. Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to block automated abuse. Turnstile may evaluate device and browser signals and set a cookie for that purpose under Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
- Analytics. If we use analytics, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies or track you across sites. We do not use advertising trackers, pixels, or cross-site behavioral profiling.
- Browser storage. The site stores small values in your browser: your age-verification acknowledgement, a cart token that keeps your cart together between pages, and interface preferences. These stay in your browser and are not used to identify you across other sites.
How we use it
- To respond to you, quote and build your rifle, perform gunsmithing work, and fulfill and ship orders.
- To complete lawful firearm transfers through your chosen FFL and to keep the acquisition and disposition records federal law requires of a licensed dealer.
- To send the emails you asked for. Transactional emails about an inquiry or order are separate from list emails; you can leave any list at any time.
- To protect the site, our customers, and our business: fraud prevention, security, abuse detection, and enforcing our Terms of Service.
- To meet legal obligations, including federal, state, and local firearms and tax law, and to respond to lawful requests from authorities.
- To understand how the site is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it.
We do not use your information for automated decisions that have legal effects on you, and we do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
Who we share it with
- Service providers that operate parts of the business for us: Cloudflare (site delivery, security, forms protection), WP Engine (store hosting), our payment processor (card processing), shipping carriers, and email delivery. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.
- Your FFL dealer, for firearm transfers, as described above.
- Manufacturers and suppliers, only to the extent needed for a warranty claim or a special order you asked for.
- Authorities, when required by law, subpoena, or to protect safety, rights, or property.
- A successor business if we sell or reorganize the company, under the same commitments.
How long we keep it
Inquiries and correspondence are kept while we work with you and for a reasonable period afterward so we can pick the conversation back up. Order records are kept for as long as tax and consumer law require. Firearm transfer records are kept for the period federal law requires of licensed dealers, which can be twenty years or longer, and cannot be deleted on request while that obligation lasts. List subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it (subject to the record-keeping obligations above), and opt out of marketing email at any time by using the unsubscribe link or replying to any list email. Depending on where you live, including Florida, California, Virginia, Colorado, and other states with privacy laws, you may have additional rights, such as the right to know the categories of information collected and shared, the right to portability, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We honor these requests for everyone, wherever you live.
To make a request, email sales@PrecisionRifleworks.us with “Privacy request” in the subject. We will verify that the request comes from you (or an authorized agent) before acting on it, and we respond within the time the applicable law allows. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, our forms are protected against automated abuse, payment card data is handled by our processor and never stored by us, and access to inquiry and order data is limited to the people who need it to serve you. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your information we will notify you as the law requires.
Age
This site sells firearms, ammunition, and related equipment. It is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 to use the site and at least 21 to purchase handgun ammunition, and you must be legally eligible to purchase any firearm you order. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has provided it, contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other sites
We link to manufacturers, carriers, and other third parties. Their sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
Changes
When we change this policy we update the effective date at the top. Material changes to how we use information you already gave us will be announced on this page and, where appropriate, by email.
